How powerful is the Mars Hydro TS3000 grow light? PPFD light test
Grow Light Test Tent
Mars Hydro TS3000 – 450W
Apogee MQ-610 ePAR Meter
As we develop better led grow lights for the NZ market, we collect and analyse a ton of data. Here we share our findings with you so you can make better grow light purchase decisions.
Methodology: 1.5m2 x 2m tent used with a 1m x 1m grid of 10cm squares, tested at a variety of heights: 450, 600 and 1200mm
Testing Meter: Apogee MQ-610 ePAR meter
Spectrum tested: Visible light + 380 to 760 nm (Includes UV & IR)
Outcome:
We found that the Mars Hydro TS3000 can produce up to 1200ppfd, but only in a very small part of the light’s footprint. This light is unlikely to burn your plants, and you won’t need to water as often as a more powerful light due to the low wattage.
At an average of 680µmol m-2 s-1 at 450mm, it will be important to keep the light as close as possible to the top of the canopy to achieve best results. We would recommend hanging closer than 450mm to the top of your plants.
Average PPFD at 450mm: 485µmol m-2 s-1
Average PPFD at 600mm: 680µmol m-2 s-1
Average PPFD at 1200mm: 303µmol m-2 s-1
